ABOUT THE JOB OPENING
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A SENIOR QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEER TO JOIN OUR TEAM
As our Senior QA Engineer, you will lead the design and execution of automated quality practices, ensuring robust, reliable, and maintainable test coverage across our backend and frontend systems. You will define our automation strategy, optimise CI/CD quality gates, mentor mid-level and junior QA engineers, and partner closely with product and engineering to shift quality left across our distributed engineering organisation in the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.
YOU WILL
Take part on Yonderland test automation strategy and framework(s) for APIs, services, and UI.
Design and implement stable, scalable, and maintainable automated tests (unit, integration, API, contract, UI, and performance).
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and enforce quality gates.
Collaborate with backend and frontend engineers to ensure testability and observability by design.
Identify and eliminate flaky tests, and optimise execution time and reliability.
Define and track quality metrics such as test coverage, failure rate, MTTR, and escaped defects.
Mentor mid-level and junior QA engineers on automation, tooling, and best practices.
Represent QA in architecture and design discussions to ensure quality and risk are considered early.
Drive continuous improvement of testing processes, tooling, and test-data management.
YOU HAVE
5+ years of software testing or QA engineering experience.
2+ years designing and owning test automation frameworks in multi-team environments.
Strong scripting and debugging skills (e.g., Python, JavaScript, TypeScript).
Deep experience in test automation, including API and UI frameworks and CI/CD integration.
Experience with performance, contract, and integration testing alongside API and UI automation.
Understanding of REST/GraphQL APIs, backend services, and UI stacks (e.g., React).
Experience with cloud platforms and containerised test environments.
Proven ability to define and enforce quality gates and quality metrics for delivery teams.
Strong collaboration and communication skills with engineering and product.
Proficiency in English.
AI CAPABILITIES
The following AI capabilities are a must-have for this role at Yonderland.
Familiarity with AI-powered test generation tools and the ability to integrate them into automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
Understanding of responsible AI testing: evaluating AI outputs for bias, fairness, and safety as part of acceptance criteria.
Effective use of AI-assisted debugging, test synthesis, and defect analysis tools to improve QA productivity.
Awareness of compliance and privacy considerations when test data interacts with AI models.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
ISTQB Advanced, or an equivalent testing certification.
Experience with observability and monitoring tools to support testing in production-like environments.
Experience with AEM or other content management platforms.
Experience in retail, omnichannel, e-commerce, or supply chain technology environments.
Multilingual capabilities - Dutch, French, or Portuguese are advantageous for stakeholder engagement across Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.
