Engineering Software Project Leader - eBike (SL1) (f/m/div.)

For you, project leadership means creating structure, transparency and alignment in a complex technical environment.

As an eBike Software Project Leader, you will take responsibility for planning, coordinating and steering software deliveries for Bosch eBike development.

You will play a central role in ensuring the on-time delivery of our software releases, while coordinating prototype and pre-development activities in parallel. Working closely with software developers, testing teams, engineering leads and international project stakeholders, you will translate product and project needs into realistic development plans and executable work packages.

You will connect technical teams and stakeholders, create transparency around priorities and dependencies, and proactively drive risks and conflicts toward resolution.

Your Responsibilities

• Own the planning and coordination of software releases, ensuring that software deliveries are prepared and completed according to agreed milestones and project targets.
• Translate high-level requirements from product, quality and project stakeholders into clear and actionable work packages for the software development teams.
• Drive capacity and resource planning together with developers and team leads, considering development effort as well as the required lead time for component and system testing.
• Steer software activities using an agile Kanban approach, defining, prioritizing and tracking work packages using tools such as Jira.
• Coordinate software deliveries for prototype phases, R&D projects and pre-development activities in parallel with regular release planning.
• Coordinate planning and delivery across multiple embedded software domains, ensuring effective collaboration between development, testing and system-level activities.
• Act as a central coordination point between development teams, testing teams, engineering leads and project stakeholders, ensuring transparency regarding progress, priorities, risks and dependencies.
• Align software planning with overall project milestones and system-level objectives.
• Identify project risks, dependencies and conflicts early and proactively drive their resolution across teams, technical domains and organizational interfaces.
• Moderate project meetings efficiently, support decision-making and ensure that agreed actions and responsibilities are clearly followed up.
• Collaborate closely with international project stakeholders to align responsibilities, priorities and software delivery targets.
• Take end-to-end ownership for assigned project streams, such as specific software releases or prototype projects.

Education

• University degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Business Informatics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a comparable technical field with a strong software and/or engineering background.

Experience and Know-how

• Several years of experience in software project management, preferably within embedded systems, automotive, eBike or another high-tech development environment.
• Solid technical understanding, preferably with experience or a strong background in software development.
• Ability to discuss technical work packages with engineers, assess development effort and translate technical input into realistic project plans.
• Experience with project planning, capacity planning, prioritization and coordination across multiple development teams.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycles, including the V-model, and the interaction between development, component testing, system testing, verification and validation.
• Experience working in an agile development environment, ideally using Kanban or comparable methodologies.
• Experience with modern project management and tracking tools.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary and international development teams is highly desirable.

Languages

• Business fluent English, written and spoken.
• German is a significant advantage.
